The oil is pale yellow in colour with a light, characteristic almond scent and a non greasy texture. At Maduras Herbals, we supply Almond Oil Mamra as a raw material for cosmetic manufacturers, DIY formulators, hair care brands, and skin care product developers looking for a premium grade carrier oil from India.

About Almond Oil (Mamra)

Mamra almond oil is cold-pressed from the kernels of Mamra almonds, a variety of almond (Prunus amygdalus) that is considered among the finest and most nutrient-dense almond varieties available. Mamra almonds are primarily grown in Afghanistan, Iran, and the Kashmir valley of India, and are distinctly different from the commercially mass-produced California almond variety in terms of their oil content, nutritional density, and overall quality. The oil pressed from Mamra almonds is particularly prized in traditional Indian and Persian wellness practices, where it has been used for generations in hair care, skin nourishment, and massage.

Mamra almond oil is rich in oleic acid, which typically makes up the majority of its fatty acid composition, alongside a meaningful linoleic acid content and natural vitamin E in the form of tocopherols. This combination gives it good emollient and skin-softening properties, and its vitamin E content contributes antioxidant protection both to the oil itself and to any formulation it is incorporated into. It forms a light protective film on the skin surface that helps retain moisture without feeling heavy or occlusive, making it well suited to both face and body applications. In haircare, it is traditionally used to add shine, soften the hair shaft, and support scalp conditioning.

Working with Almond Oil (Mamra) in Your Formulations

Mamra almond oil works well across a wide range of product types including massage oils, body oils, facial oils, hair oils, balms, butters, and emulsions. It is particularly valued in premium natural perfume bases and massage blends where its mild scent and pleasant skin feel make it a comfortable base to work with. In haircare it blends well with other traditional oils such as coconut, bhringaraj, and amla for classic Ayurvedic hair preparations.

Quality & Formulation Notes

People with nut allergies should be cautious when using this oil, and a patch test recommendation is worth including on finished product labels. Cold-pressed versions are always preferable to solvent-extracted ones for preserving the oil's natural tocopherol content and overall quality. Batch variation in colour and scent is normal for a cold-pressed product and does not reflect a quality issue. The Mamra variety is naturally higher in oil content than standard almonds, which contributes to the richer feel that distinguishes it from regular sweet almond oil.
