Product Description:

Argan Oil is a cold pressed carrier oil extracted from the kernels of the argan tree (Argania spinosa), a tree that grows almost exclusively in the semi-arid regions of southwestern Morocco. Often referred to as liquid gold, argan oil has been used for generations by the Berber communities of Morocco for both skin and hair care. The oil is golden yellow in colour with a distinct earthy, nutty scent and a smooth texture that absorbs at a moderate pace, leaving the skin feeling soft and nourished. At Maduras Herbals, we supply Argan Oil as a raw material for cosmetic manufacturers, DIY formulators, hair care brands, and skin care product developers looking for an authentic, traceable carrier oil from Morocco.

About Argan Oil

Argan oil is cold-pressed from the kernels inside the hard-shelled nut of the argan tree (Argania spinosa), a species native to Morocco that doesn't grow naturally anywhere else on earth. The nut looks a little like a thick-skinned olive, but getting oil out of it is a slow, hands-on process, it typically takes around 100 kg of argan fruit to yield just 2–3 litres of finished oil.

Moroccan households have applied argan oil topically for generations — on ageing, dry, and acne-prone skin and long before it became a staple ingredient in modern cosmetic formulation. Its appeal as a carrier oil comes down to its composition: a strong showing of linoleic acid (an omega-6 fatty acid linked to better skin elasticity), a mix of plant sterols, carotenoids, and phenolic compounds that bring genuine antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity, plus a meaningful vitamin E content for extra protection against oxidation. On hair, a small amount helps cut down greasiness without weighing strands down, making it a frequent partner alongside jojoba oil, rosehip oil, and evening primrose oil in facial oil blends aimed at mature or dehydrated skin.

Working with Argan Oil in Your Formulations

Argan oil absorbs quickly and is a favourite in products aimed at mature skin, where it's often paired with jojoba oil for everyday use, or blended with rosehip and evening primrose oil for a richer, more rejuvenating facial oil. It also helps tone down excess shine on oily skin when used sparingly, and works well in soothing, rejuvenating formulations for the face and neck, products for problem skin, and across haircare in general.

Sourcing & Quality Considerations

Genuine argan oil is one of the more frequently adulterated carrier oils on the market, given how labour-intensive real production is. The biggest safeguard is sourcing — always work with a supplier who can back the batch with a COA, so what's in the bottle actually matches what's on the label.

Applications

Hair Care Formulations: Hair oils, hair serums, scalp treatments, leave-in conditioning blends, hot oil treatments, anti-frizz formulations

Skin Care Formulations: Facial oils, anti-ageing serums, body lotions, massage oils, nail and cuticle care, aftershave formulations

Cosmetic and Soap Making: Carrier base for essential oil and aromatherapy blends, cold and hot process soap superfatting oil, lotion and cream oil-phase ingredient

General Use: Bulk supply for cosmetic manufacturers, DIY skin and hair care kits, salon and spa product formulations

Packing and Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep the container tightly sealed when not in active use. Recommended storage temperature below 25°C. Refrigeration is acceptable for extended shelf life. Best before 12 months from packaging date. Natural sedimentation or slight cloudiness at lower temperatures is normal and does not affect oil quality.

Caution

Patch test is recommended before use on skin. In case of any allergic reaction, discontinue use and consult a dermatologist or physician.
