Product Description:

Avocado Oil is a cold pressed carrier oil extracted from the pulp of the avocado fruit (Persea americana), unlike most carrier oils which come from the seed or kernel of a plant. This gives avocado oil a uniquely rich, buttery character among carrier oils. The oil ranges from yellow to deep green in colour with a mild, slightly nutty scent and a thicker, more nourishing texture compared to lighter carrier oils. Avocado Oil has a long history of use in skin treatments across different cultures and is especially valued for dry, mature, or dehydrated skin formulations. At Maduras Herbals, we supply Avocado Oil as a raw material for cosmetic manufacturers, DIY formulators, hair care brands, and skin care product developers looking for a rich, nourishing carrier oil.

About Avocado Oil

Avocado oil is pressed from the pulp of the avocado fruit, not the seed. A method Mexican and Central/South American communities have used for generations to nourish skin and hair. A ripe avocado is typically 15–40% oil by weight, but because that oil sits in the soft pulp rather than a hard seed or nut, extraction has to happen once the pulp has dried out; otherwise it simply emulsifies instead of separating into oil.

It's a good nut-free option for formulators working around nut allergies, and its smooth glide on skin makes it a popular pick for massage oils. The oil's vivid emerald-green colour comes from a high chlorophyll content, which also makes it prone to photo-oxidising when exposed to light and air, it's best stored cool, dark, and tightly sealed to protect that one-year shelf life. Avocado oil carries a notable amount of palmitoleic acid alongside palmitic, linoleic, and oleic acids, giving it real anti-inflammatory and moisturising character for damaged hair and skin, and it's also rich in phytosterols — beta-sitosterol, lutein, and vitamin E among the most significant and which contribute genuine skin-repairing benefits. In-vivo research has linked it to faster recovery from minor skin injuries, increased collagen synthesis, and a reduced inflammatory response, which is a large part of why it's such a popular choice for after-sun and damaged-skin formulations.

Working with Avocado Oil in Your Formulations

Avocado oil fits naturally into emulsions, massage oils, lip gloss, lip balm, and night-time skincare, and performs well in oil-based scrubs too. It's especially well suited to after-sun formulations, particularly when blended with calendula macerate or rosehip oil, and is a genuinely beneficial choice for dry, damaged, dehydrated, or mature skin.

Quality & Formulation Notes

No adverse effects or formulation restrictions are documented for avocado oil. The one practical thing to plan around is its chlorophyll content — keep stock away from direct light and heat during storage, since that's what drives its oxidation and limits it to roughly a one-year shelf life once opened.

Applications

Hair Care Formulations: Hair masks, deep conditioning treatments, scalp serums, hot oil treatments, leave-in hair oils

Skin Care Formulations: Body lotions, facial oils, anti-ageing creams, massage oils, dry skin balms, eczema and dry patch care formulations

Cosmetic and Soap Making: Carrier base for essential oil and aromatherapy blends, cold and hot process soap superfatting oil, lotion and cream oil-phase ingredient

General Use: Bulk supply for cosmetic manufacturers, DIY skin and hair care kits, salon and spa product formulations

Packing and Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep the container tightly sealed when not in active use. Recommended storage temperature below 25°C. Refrigeration is acceptable for extended shelf life. Best before 12 months from packaging date. Natural sedimentation or slight cloudiness at lower temperatures is normal and does not affect oil quality.

Caution

Patch test is recommended before use on skin. In case of any allergic reaction, discontinue use and consult a dermatologist or physician.
